HANDYMAN | GRAND JUNCTION, CO
Captain Ron Handyman LLC provides home repair and maintenance services in Grand Junction, Colorado. Founded July 2026 by a retired fire captain with 30 years in the fire service and 45 years of construction experience. Carries $1,000,000 general liability insurance.
You patched that crack above the bedroom door last spring and it is back. That is not bad patching. Grand Valley homes sit on soil that swells and shrinks with the seasons, and the framing moves with it. Ron has been fixing drywall, trim, tile, and floors in this valley for years, and he will tell you straight whether it is cosmetic or something else.

"Ron helped me with remodeling my first home, when I couldn't figure something out he was there ASAP to help me. Highly recommended!!!"

Tape first, texture second, and never skip the primer. Ron opens the crack slightly, tapes it with mesh or paper depending on whether the crack is still moving, and feathers the compound wider than most people expect. Texture matching is the part that separates a repair you can see from one you cannot. He matches the surrounding wall by hand, whether it is orange peel, knockdown, or smooth, then primes before paint so the patch does not flash through the finish coat.
Ron looks at the crack or damage and gives you a number before starting.
Furniture moved, floors covered, dust contained.
Mesh or paper tape on moving cracks so it holds.
Texture matched to the surrounding wall, then primed.
Paint applied, area cleaned, nothing left behind.
Most drywall patches run between $75 and $250 nationally in 2026, and small trim and tile repairs land in a similar range. What usually inflates a small repair bill is not the labor rate. It is the minimum charge and the trip fee stacked on top of it. Ron charges neither. If you have a crack in the hallway, a loose baseboard in the bedroom, and a ceiling fan that needs hanging, put them on one list and pay for one visit instead of three.
Two reasons, and both are local. The first is under the house. Expansive Mancos Shale runs through much of the Grand Valley, and it changes volume with moisture, which moves the framing above it every season. The second is the air. Grand Junction sits at 4,646 feet in high desert, with hot dry summers and hard winter freezes. That swing pulls moisture out of framing lumber and puts it back twice a year. Homes from the Redlands to Clifton show the same cracks in the same places.
